M/Y CAKEWALK DELIVERED

Cakewalk video

M/Y CAKEWALK has been celebrated as the largest private yacht launched from an American yard since 1930. Launched late in 2010, Cakewalk recently completed its first transatlantic journey. Seeing a project of this size and complexity from concept to launch involved numerous designers and engineers from across the world over a period of four years.

Derektor Shipyards hired Persak & Wurmfeld during the final year of the project to coordinate and manage the overall project engineering as well as engineer solutions for design issues that inevitability present themselves in the final stages of a complicated build.

THE NEW e33 SQUARED

Jeremy Wurmfeld’s e33 design design has garnered much attention for the boat’s winning combination of comfort, performance and ease of handling.

Now, on the e33’s five year anniversary, e Sailing Yachts, designers Persak & Wurmfeld, Doyle Sailmakers and builder Lyman-Morse are proud to introduce the innovative new e33 squared which takes the experience of buying and owning the performance daysailer to a whole new level.

Lyman-Morse has pushed the e33 to meet the highest quality build standards. Each new e33 squared is built in Lyman-Morse’s state of the art ‘Building 11’, the greenest boat building facility on the east coast by a world class crew experienced in the most advanced marine systems and boat building techniques. Every e33 owner is offered the same boutique experience and high level of customer service available to Lyman Morse’s custom yacht customers.

REFIT PROFILE: 105' SLOOP "MINISKIRT"

Originally built by Windship in 1991, S/Y MINI SKIRT (ex-Chardonnay) underwent an extensive refit that spanned two years. Persak & Wurmfeld worked with her new owner and builder, Ares Custom Yachts of Fort Lauderdale, to bring this classic design into the modern era.

The 105’ sloop MINI SKIRT exemplifies how a thoughtful refit on an existing yacht can produce an elegant and modern result. This VIDEO features onboard interviews with MINI SKIRT’s original designer, Ron Holland, and original builder, William Waite, applauding the yacht’s “flawless” refit.

She was also recently spotted during the Fort Lauderdale Boat show by Superyacht Times, sailing past, as luck would have it, another P&W project, M/Y CAKEWALK.

PERSAK & WURMFELD WELCOMES NAVAL ARCHITECT BRENDAN CARR

Persak & Wurmfeld is pleased to announce that we’ve brought naval architect Brendan Carr on board. Brendan comes to P&W from the Naval Architecture Group at General Dynamics – Electric Boat in Groton, CT, where his team was designing future US submarines.

Brendan received his masters in Naval Architecture from the University College London and completed his undergraduate studies at Webb Institute. A native of Long Island, Brendan enjoys playing basketball, fishing and sailing and is very happy to have joined the P&W team in our Brooklyn offices.

BROOKLYN BOATWORKS OPTI LAUNCH

Persak & Wurmfeld gives back to their community through Brooklyn Boatworks, a program they founded in 2005 that teaches life skills and leadership through boat building.

On June 21st, twenty middle school students from two Brooklyn public schools proudly launched their hand-built Optimists into the Hudson River. The students worked diligently with Brooklyn Boatworks all year to hand craft their sailboats.

P&W congratulates all of the students and the staff of Brooklyn Boatworks on their accomplishments.
