Early next week Superyacht owners, yacht designers and representatives of the leading shipyards will gather in Palm Beach, FL to discuss and debate the latest developments and issues facing the industry at the Superyacht Design Symposium. Carl Persak will join designer Tim Heywood and Hugo van Wieringen of Azure Naval Architects to present the topic, “Tenders: How do these essential toys influence and constrain the design of a yacht and how can they be stowed and launched efficiently?” Using the 281-foot motoryacht Cakewalk’s full beam tender bay as a case study, Carl will discuss overall location, styling and engineering considerations for Superyacht tender bays and tenders.

TWO P&W PROJECTS UP FOR DESIGN AWARDS

S/Y Miniskirt

S/Y MINISKIRT: FINALIST, BEST REFIT DESIGN AWARD, INTERNATIONAL SUPERYACHT SOCIETY

ISS’s Design Awards—based entirely on peer review—annually celebrate the large yacht industry's very finest naval architecture, design, interiors, engineering and builds. The Persak & Wurmfeld project 105-foot S/Y Miniskirt has been chosen as an ISS 2011 Design Awards finalist for “Best Refit”.  P&W worked closely with the yacht’s owner to modify the yacht’s exterior, including designing a new social cockpit and helm station for better ergonomics and functionality and engineering a new transom stair with hydraulically-operated swim platform.

M/Y Cakewalk
